The Perils of Puckering
Yes, this is one of those “believe it or not’s.” The results of a new study by the Journal of the American Dental Association were released recently. The information indicates that cavity-causing bacteria may actually be transmitted from person to person (from mouth to mouth) during moments of passionate kissing. You need not, however, be alarmed, nor do you need to stop kissing. The study also reports that people who diligently practice good oral hygiene and choose “kissing partners” who also practice good oral health habits, are relatively safe. We might add that what minimal risk then remains may be worth the “risk.”
When winter and bad weather are around the corner, it is an excellent time of year to schedule a visit to your dentist for a checkup, examination, and routine cleaning. When the holidays are coming, you certainly want to make sure that your celebrations aren’t dampened by a toothache or other dental problem.
