Don't Laugh -- Your Tongue May be To Blame
Good oral health habits have, in the past, only included brushing and flossing.
What dental research has discovered of late is that it is the tongue that actually
harbors most of the bacteria that can cause periodontal
disease and halitosis. What that means is that your daily dental routine should,
in addition to brushing and flossing, also include tongue cleaning.
The task is not a difficult one. Nor will it take a lot of your time.
A simple, soft-bristled tooth brush is the best tool for patients to use
to conveniently, comfortably and effectively reduce the amount of
bacteria and debris on the tongue. In addition to brushing and flossing
this will help to reduce the possibility that bacteria will collect
around the teeth and lead to periodontal disease.
Get it off your tongue before it gets to your gums.
Remember: Tongue cleaning should not be overlooked if your
objective is complete oral care!
