Porcelain Veneers Porcelain Veneers provide a porcelain covering for teeth. Veneers are a relatively "simple" way to solve the problem of crooked teeth, poorly spaced teeth and even teeth that are too short and need to be lengthened. Porcelain veneers are durable. They resist wear and discoloration better than bonding. The procedure requires no needles and is performed with no discomfort. [Top of Page] |

Bleaching (Tooth Whitening) Bleaching is a process designed to lighten the color of teeth. The procedure we recommend involves home bleaching. The steps are relatively simple to follow and may be accomplished in the privacy of your home, with instructions and off-site supervision from us. Results last anywhere from one to three years depending on your individual, personal habits. The whole process is accomplished over a two to three-week period. We begin by fitting you with a custom-made mouth tray. Then we provide you with a whitening gel which is placed in the tray. You are instructed to put the tray in your mouth for two to three hours each day or all night. [Top of Page] |

Composites or Bonding Composites or Bonding is a procedure by which tooth-colored dental resins and composites are used to fill cavities, repair chipped or broken teeth, or to cover stains. Bonded composites last anywhere from five and ten years, depending on the individual patient's lifestyle. Composites or Bonding is often used as an acceptable alternative to metallic restorations. Bridges Bridges are dental fixtures which may be used to replace missing teeth. Removable bridges are available, but most bridges are permanent or fixed. Bridges can be successfully used to replace one or several missing teeth. Gaps from missing teeth should not be neglected because they can cause other teeth to shift or move out their sockets. If this happens, it can precipitate further tooth loss. Depending on the individual case, bridges provide an alternative to more expensive dental implants or even dentures. Dental insurance usually covers a good part of the cost of bridges. |

Root Canal Therapy Should a nerve inside one of your teeth become infected, one of the options which may be available to us in an attempt to "save" your tooth is root canal treatment. An infected tooth will not heal on its own. It therefore places stress on your entire body's immune system. There are several warning signs which may signal the need for root canal treatment. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, alone or in combination, please call our office immediately. The sooner we can determine the cause of your problem, the sooner we can relieve your pain and discomfort through appropriate treatment. [Top of Page] |

"Simple" Extractions On occasion, there is no other viable option available other than to surgically remove a tooth. We only perform "Simple" Extractions in this office, ones which do not require the special talents of an oral surgeon. Once your dental condition is reviewed and analyzed, we will either suggest that we do an extraction for you, or we will recommend an oral surgeon. |

Your routine dental exam will identify any orthodontic or orthopedic problems you may be having. This imbalance can cause headaches, earaches, difficulty moving the jaw, clicking or popping in the joint, or painful jaw muscles. We treat these TMJ problems in several ways. Some options available to us include crowning teeth, filling spaces, moving teeth orthodontically, and the providing the patient with an appliance. One or all of these procedures can restore TMJ harmony. Your individual case will be evaluated by our dental team and the appropriate method(s) of treatment will be suggested to you. [Top of Page] |

| The Use of a CO2 and Diode Laser in Periodontics "Laser" is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Lasers are ubiquitous in the medical field, used routinely in ophthalmology (eye care), plastic surgery, ENT ear, nose & throat) and gynecological surgery. In this office, we use both a soft tissue Diode Laser and a C02 Laser. The first is a bit slower and not as powerful and is, therefore, specifically appropriate for use with some patients. The CO2 Laser is quicker and more powerful, but, for the most part, both are used in the same procedures. The Laser is most helpful with soft tissue (i.e., gums/periodontics). Lasers are also very effective with children who are tongue-tied. The procedure is called a frenectomy. It refers to the frenum, a fold of tissue or muscle connecting the lips, cheek or tongue to the jawbone. A frenectomy is the removal of one of these folds of tissue. A lingual frenectomy removes the fold of tissue under the tongue, for, most often, children who have a large frenum that limits the tongue from moving and can interfere with speech. Lasers can be used to clean and sterilize any surgical site. Procedures that used to require anesthesia, scalpels and sutures can now be performed bloodlessly, since lasers coagulate and cauterize ("seal" the wound) as they cut. The possibility of infections are more remote with lasers than with cold steel. Gingival (gum) tissue that has overgrown due to certain medications can be treated easily and without trauma using a soft tissue laser. Lasers have been shown in many studies to be bactericidal instruments. Since periodontal disease is a bacterial infection, the removal of the bacterial microorganisms would restore the tissue to health. Toxins that these bacteria emit are destroyed by laser energy. Laser assisted scaling and root planning (cleaning) has been shown to reduce pockets and restore the oral cavity top health. Our hygienists are trained to use the Laser to sterilize the gum area after cleaning the teeth, yet another way in which this new technology benefits our patients. A summary of the benefits of laser use in periodontal therapies:

Implants: Placement and Restorations Implants are permanent replacements for one, or more teeth. They hold a crown, bridge or denture in the same way as the roots hold natural teeth. Implants are anchored to the bone structure in your jaw, after which a crown, bridge, or denture is attached to the implants. Implants offer much greater stability for the teeth, which allows you to eat, talk and smile more comfortably. Implants, an excellent alternative to removable denture, can also be used to replace a single tooth, without having to touch any other healthy tooth in the mouth. Your dentist can evaluate whether you are a good candidate for implants and address any questions you may have. We offer the newest procedures and technology for implants and also perform implant restorations such as placing a crown or bridge over an implant.
